Confirmation Preparation

The role of the sponsor is to present the candidate to the Christian community for Confirmation and to assist the confirmed in fulfilling his/her baptismal promises faithfully with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. The sponsor's function is to take care that the person confirmed behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the duties inherent in this sacrament. Ideally, it's desirable for sponsor to be the one who took this role at Baptism (Godparent), but it is not essential. Sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic who is sixteen years of age or older and can't be the father or the mother of youth being confirmed.
