Heather grew up in a Catholic family in Swift Current, SK, and moved to Calgary in high school. She studied at St Mary’s University College in Calgary and the U of S where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Studies. Her personal faith journey really began after getting involved with Catholic Christian Outreach in university. She met her now husband, John, on a CCO mission trip in Halifax, NS. For the past 14 years, Heather’s primary vocation has been that of a Stay-at-Home mom to her four kids- Abby, Zack, Matthew, and Charlotte. Her faith is continually enriched and enlivened through her women’s group of 14 years. John works for Catholic Christian Outreach and the Diocese of Saskatoon. Faith, mission, and evangelization have always been an integral and central part of their family, but she is excited to take on a more active role in ministry as the Sunday Experience and Volunteer Coordinator.
In her spare time, Heather loves to walk, run, and rollerblade. She has recently taken up a love of house plants, so you can find half-dead plants in every corner of her house. The Hickeys are diehard long-suffering Calgary Flames fans, but love watching most sports. They love reality show competitions with Survivor and Top Chef at the top of their favourites list. They have been members of St Anne’s Parish since 2020, and have loved being welcomed into such a vibrant and joy-filled faith community.
