  • The role of the sponsor is to present the candidate to the Christian community for Confirmation and to assist the confirmed in fulfilling his/her baptismal promises faithfully with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. The sponsor's function is to take care that the person confirmed behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the duties inherent in this sacrament. Ideally, it's desirable for sponsor to be the one who took this role at Baptism (Godparent), but it is not essential. Sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic who is sixteen years of age or older and can't be the father or the mother of youth being confirmed.
  • We will need a copy of your son/daughter's baptismal certificate if they weren't baptized at Saint Anne's.

  • We will be doing majority of your son/daughter's preparation in a small group setting alongside some independent prep at home and with sponsor. It is helpful to know for preparing lessons what sessions your child will normally be attending (Sunday afternoon or Wednesday after school). For each session block you only need to attend 1 and can switch days if it one doesn't work a certain week.
  • We will be doing prep in smaller groups for a richer, fun, and more meaningful experience than in one large group (wisdom gleaned from past years!) - Confirmation Prep sessions are directed to the youth themselves (parents not required to stay), but Colm is looking for a few parents willing to be a "helper" for one or all of their child's small group sessions. Essentially just to be present as an extra set of hands, prep snack, etc. You can also fully participate in the sessions alongside the youth as well :)
