Lent Talks

* LENT TALKS - Inspiration for the Journey - 'What are you giving up for Lent?' is a common question this time of year in church circles, when many Christians mark the 40 day season leading up to Easter with some form of fasting. Lent is also a good time to add something to your spiritual journey. Christ Church Anglican and St Mary's and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic parishes in Saskatoon are calling Christians from around the city together at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings during Lent for LENT TALKS, held at Christ Church Anglican, 515-28th Street West, Saskatoon. Each presenter will offer a brief introduction to a personal favourite Lenten resource. Come for punchy, powerful talks, worship music and fellowship.  Speakers will include Father Graham Hill (Roman Catholic, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Saskatoon); Marie-Louise Ternier-Gommers (Anglican, All Saints, Watrous); Rev Deb Walker (Mayfair United Church, Saskatoon); Pastor Jakob Palm (Holy Covenant Evangelical Orthodox Church, Saskatoon), and Rev Bill Blackmon (Saskatoon Evangelical Ministers' Fellowship). Croatian Mass

Fr. Mark Miller: Medical Ethics Presentation

* Are you struggling to find your position on Doctor Assisted Death? You are not alone. Come to St. John Bosco, Sunday April 2nd at the 10:00 am Mass to hear Fr. Mark Miller share his insights into “What is a Good Death Today? Technology and Ethics”. Fr. Mark will speak during mass and continue immediately following. Fr. Mark Miller has a PHD in medical ethics and has addressed this topic many times. Hospitality will be provided by the Health Council. All are welcome to attend.

From Mourning to Dawn

From Mourning to Dawn, the diocesan grief support group for widows and widowers is hosting their spring session, beginning on March 28, 2017. Facilitators, who have experienced the loss of their marriage partner, engage with participants on an 8-week journey of transformation and healing, offering support and encouragement for bereaved spouses. This program is open to participants who have been widows/widowers between 2 months and 2 years. Sessions are held at the Catholic Pastoral Centre in the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road) on 8 consecutive Tuesdays, beginning March 28, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Earth Hour Vigil

Earth Hour Vigil - The Roman Catholic-United Church Dialogue of Canada has prepared an ecumenical prayer service to help congregations, parishes, and other groups observe, in prayer and worship, the International Earth Hour which is taking place Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 8:30 pm. The resource, available in English or French, is entitled “Earth Hour Vigil” / Vigile « Une heure pour la Terre ». Earth Hour stems from a grassroots movement that began in Sydney, Australia, in 2007. Its goal is to create greater awareness regarding energy consumption and to encourage communities to consider turning off their non-essential lights for one hour, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The Earth Hour Vigil can be used flexibly on, or around, 25 March.  Oremus is a new monthly worship and community night for young adults (over 19) held on the fourth Friday of each month at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, in the Queen of Peace Chapel. The next Oremus will be held 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 24. This is a time to be still, pray and intercede for the needs of each other, our community and the world. Support for Persecuted Christians: the 4th Annual Fundraiser for Persecuted Christians has been RESCHEDULED!  Oringinally scheduled for Sunday, March 19 it will now be held Sunday, April 30 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, featuring an East Indian buffet at 6 p.m., followed by a program and entertainment by guitarist Zeljko Bilandzic. REVIVE Parish Mission

REVIVE Parish Mission will be held Saturday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 300 - 8th Ave. North, Martensville, SK. This retreat is designed to help the whole family prepare their hearts to celebrate Easter. Andre and Angele Regnier, co-founders of Catholic Christian Outreach will facilitate this day of talks, prayer and music. If God loves us why doesn't it feel that way? The Regniers will share some of the reasons we may not be experiencing the fullness of God's love. A children's retreat for kindergarten (starting fall 2017) to Grade 6 will be held adjacent to the adult retreat and hosted by Pure Witness Ministries.
